There are differences in charging speed and safety when it comes to deciding what charger to get, if you are using the standard charger included with many kits, you can charge faster and better with a proper LiPo charger.
Why do I need a separate LiPo charger?
The main reason is to charge more than one battery and charge faster. Pro chargers also let you charge from your car. If you want any of these functions, a regular charger won’t fit the bill.
What are the key features to pay attention to?

When deciding on a charger the key things to see are
- Input voltage –Home voltage or portable 12/24V DC
- The charging W rating – The maximum charging output/speed
- The number of channels – How many batteries can it charge at the same time.
- Additional functions: Battery discharging, battery health and some can even charge to a level for long term storage.
Most of these features are not available on an RTF supplied charger, they are much more basic.
