RayNeo Air 4 Pro AR Glasses

Last month, the RayNeo Air 4 Pro was launched. Combining a high-brightness Micro OLED display with advanced Bang and Olufsen audio and a lightweight foldable frame, it creates a private theatre experience that fits in your pocket. I have spent the last few weeks testing RayNeo Air 4 Pro. Now, let’s see how they truly live up to the hype.

Display

The 0.6-inch Micro OLED panels deliver crisp 1080p resolution to each eye. I was impressed by the 1200 nits of peak brightness because it allows you to see the interface clearly even in well-lit rooms. What’s more, HDR10 support adds a layer of depth to modern content that is often missing in cheaper AR wearables. Because these glasses cover 145% of the sRGB colour gamut and 98% of the DCI P3 range, the colours appear incredibly vibrant and accurate.

Besides, the reds and greens pop with a level of saturation that rivals high-end TV sets. You can switch between a 60Hz and a 120Hz refresh rate. I liked 120Hz for browsing menus and for playing fast games, as motion appears much smoother.

Audio

RayNeo partnered with B and O to tune the 4-driver speaker system, and the results are audible from the moment you put them on. The sound is surprisingly rich for such a small form factor and provides a clear soundstage for both dialogue and music.

It features phase cancellation technology, which aims to keep your audio private. In my testing, people sitting right next to me could barely hear what I was watching, even at medium volume levels. This feature provides a great sense of immersion when you are watching movies or viewing 3D content in public spaces. Besides, AI-driven SDR to HDR enhancement does a decent job of brightening up older YouTube videos. It revitalises dull content by intelligently enhancing contrast and colour.

Software

The English version of the firmware was already installed. The English menus were quite clear and easy to use. To change the language or update the system, you only need to toggle in settings or connect to the computer. I put the glasses to the test on a handful of laptops. The text is sufficiently crisp. And I played around with the RayNeo app, which is your media and settings hub. The UI is snappy and modern-feeling, although you still need a wired connection to your phone to use it.

Usage

The latency is low enough for competitive play. You get a field of view that feels like looking at a massive screen in a dark room, although the edges can sometimes blur if the glasses shift on your face. I found that using these for coding and multi-screen setups is a great way to stay focused because you can block out your physical surroundings. The included shading cover is essential for this kind of work because it prevents ambient light from washing out the display. You should keep in mind that these glasses do not have an internal battery. They draw power directly from the host device, which means you will see your phone or laptop battery drain faster than usual during a long movie or gaming session.

How is RayNeo Air 4 Pro AR Glasses?

Colour accuracy and physical comfort are well balanced in the RayNeo Air 4 Pro. I liked the feeling of the very lightweight Micro OLED panels and the rich colours. You will need to accept a few constraints, including the fixed field of view and the permanent attachment of a USB-C cable. When I put these up against the older Air 3S Pro, the sound quality and volume improvements are very noticeable. If you travel a lot, or if you want a private way to enjoy media without being locked to a conventional monitor, these are well worth picking up.
