Named the iTag, it is a proximity alarm that operates on a Bluetooth connection with your phone and alerts you when they become separated. The tag also has a small speaker that can be used as an alarm to locate it.

The App

The first step in setup is to install the app. The English app is available on the Play Store and the iOS App store by searching “iTracing”. This app is needed to operate, pair and monitor the iTag. The instructions are all in English and is simple to operate.

The core function

The device pairs to your phone and is like a mini-beacon regularly transmitting a signal to your phone. If the tag separates from your phone the alarm will be activated on both the phone and the iTag.

Why an alarm on both the phone and the tag?

The alarm on both the phone and tag will only stop once the two devices are within range of each other again. This anti-theft feature also means if someone takes your phone an annoying alarm will sound until they are within range of the iTag again (or until they take the battery out or force close the app).

Extended functions

Inside the app are a few extra functions;

• “Lost key mode – “You can tap the find iTag in the app and the tag will start beeping to help you locate the tag and whatever is attached to it.
• Camera shutter – Use the button on the remote to operate the camera and take photos.
• Map Location – Your phone tracks where you and the tag (via the phones GPS).

Battery Life

The iTag incorporates low power Bluetooth 4.0, this gives, according to the box, a whopping 6 months of life on a single cell battery.
