LiveFan has released its latest ultrabook that offers a lot for just over $500 price tag. With an internal sim card slot, 2K screen, and Type C the S1 is not only powerful but also future proof. Xiaomi recently announced their new ultra book and the S1 hits hard at Xiaomi with slightly better specs overall and also at a better price.

Internet anywhere with a SIM port

It might not be pretty under the cover, but you can upgrade the SSD and also install a SIM card.

Underneath the back cover is the SSD drive and the Simcard slot, if you install a mobile phone SIM card you can connect to the internet. You also have the option to upgrade the SSD to a larger size, simply swap it out for a new one.

The Ultra Slim Design

With an Ultrabook thickness of only 1.4 cm, it is ultra-thin and weighs just over one KG.

Looking strikingly similar to the Mac Book air it has the same style, material, and even the ports are almost in the same place.

Type C and USB combo

It is one of the cheapest Type C enabled ultrabooks. LiveFan could have used 2 USB 3.0 ports but instead opted for one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 port.

Performance
Untitled

LiveFan has crafted the specs around providing a faultless experience for an average user, so unless you are doing some heavy CUP intensive work it will be all you need. With a zippy startup time of just over 20 seconds and Windows 10, it is fast and easy to use straight out of the box.

Hardware Summary

8GB Ram

Web browsing is faultless, as is YouTube. The 8GB of ram means you can have a heap of tabs and programs open all at once, at 8GB it is unlikely you will experience a slow down unless you have way too many things open.

Intel Core M Processor

To boost performance further, it could have incorporated an i5, but that would understandably jack up the cost price, and the typical user would not notice any difference in performance. Unless you are looking for high-end gaming or video rendering the Core M offers plenty of power.

High Res 2K screenLiveFan S1-12

The amazing clarity of this display put is in the top end of 13.3-inch screens, with a full 2K screen, in full brightness it is crisp and vivid. With a PPI of 220, it becomes “retina” at a distance of 41 cm. Learn about PPI and retina here.

Battery Life

The internal battery gives about 6 hours of use which is acceptable but not amazing, it does offset this tho by offering ultra-fast charging, it can completely recharge in less than 120 minutes.

OverallLiveFan S1-1-2

What you get for your buck is amazing, even compared to a year ago we are impressed with this package. It is by no means the top of the table on performance, they could have packed a more powerful processor but most of us would never notice the difference as the Livefan S1 is capable of running everything you need for your daily browsing and basic gaming, we found it even ok to edit HD video.
