HarmonyOS is about to hit Huawei smartphones and tablets for the first time on June 2nd, as the major version 2.0 update rolls out. It’s expected that the tech giant will unveil its new lineup of devices, which also includes smartphones, tablets, and a new smartwatch – the Huawei Watch 3 – and then more products will follow thereafter. HarmonyOS started off on IoT devices such as smart displays or smart home equipment, where it then moved on to TVs, and now it’s being unveiled to smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches too.

What is HarmonyOS?

Basically, HarmonyOS is a family of operating systems that were initially launched on August 9th, 2019 by Huawei. It is expected to break free the Chinese giant from American software influence. And even though it was perceived to be a rival to android, HarmonyOS is completely different from both Android and IOS, which makes it sound super interesting. The restrictions by the United States government against Huawei was seen as the reason why the company decided to come up with a ‘plan B’ just in case it is prevented from using Android on future products.

Devices

Huawei had stated that HarmonyOS would be initially used on devices targeted on the Chinese market. It was Honor – Huawei’s subsidiary brand – that unveiled the Honor Vision line of smart TVs, which was the very first consumer electronic devices to run on HarmonyOS. Then, Huawei Vision, Honor Vision, Honor Vision Pro, Huawei Router AX3 are the first devices to run on HarmonyOS 1.0. Now, HarmonyOS 2.0 that is set to be unveiled on June 2nd, will support cross developments for smartphones, In-car heads, smart TVs, and smartwatches as well. There is also HarmonyOS 2.0 beta which will be run on devices like P40, P40 Pro, Mate 30, and Mate 30 Pro as well as Matepad Pro.

Final thought

HarmonyOS is based on four crucial technical features, which include seamless experiences, smooth performance, highly secure, and it’s an all-in-one software. Considering all these benefits, it’s our belief that it will do well, not only in China but also globally in the near future. These are some of the aspects that have been lacking in the existing systems, and Huawei, being a global tech giant and the leading smartphone producer, will come up with a much more improved software – and it has. So, watch out for the unveiling of the HarmonyOS on your favorite smartphones come this June 2nd.
