Hcalory HBH2 vs HBS2: What are They Different?

Let’s dive into the key differences between these two heaters to help you make your final decision.

1. Installation and Portability

Hcalory claims that both diesel air heaters are “installation-free” all-in-one units, which is incredibly convenient for outdoor enthusiasts. The “installation-free” design means that the main heater, fuel pump, and fuel tank are all integrated into a single box. This saves us from the complicated steps of connecting fuel lines and wiring harnesses. All we need to do is connect the power and the intake/exhaust pipes, and it’s ready to use. This is so much simpler than traditional split-unit heaters.

According to the Hcalory diesel heater manual, the HBH2’s dimensions are 43 x 41 x 29cm, while the HBS2 measures 48 x 41 x 21cm. The more compact HBS2 is ideal for cars or RVs with limited space.

2. Fuel Capacity

The fuel consumption of these models is the same, but the fuel tank capacity is different. The fuel capacity Hcalory HBH2 is larger than HCS-H.

  • HBH2: Features a large 5L built-in fuel tank. At the lowest fuel consumption rate of 0.12 L/h, it can theoretically run for over 41 hours. At the max mode, continuous heating time is 10.86 hours.
  • HBS2: Comes with a 3.5L fuel tank. At the same minimum consumption rate of 0.12 L/h, it can run for nearly 29 hours. At the max mode, continuous heating time is 7.5 hours.

As an experienced overlander, I know that having to refuel frequently in the middle of the night is a huge hassle. The 5L tank on the HBH2 provides a massive “endurance safety net” and is perfect for continuous all-night heating.

3. Smart Control

Both models support three control methods: the Hcalory heater app, a remote control, and an LCD panel. Functionally, they are identical. You can comfortably adjust the temperature of your sleeping bag using your phone, which is extremely convenient.

Based on reviews, both models provide a powerful 5-8KW of heat, thus both of them can quickly make an RV, tent, or truck cabin warm. With high power output and dual high-altitude modes, both models perform equally well in heating efficiency and stability.

Which is Your Best Diesel Aire Heater: Hcalory HBH2 or HBS2?
