Radiomaster TX15 o TX15 Max

For anyone into RC models, especially drones, a good radio controller is your third hand. Radiomaster, a brand we all know and trust, recently dropped two exciting new controllers: the Radiomaster TX15 y Radiomaster TX15 Max. While the names look similar, these two actually have some key differences. Here, I will share my review of these two Radiomaster controllers to help you figure out which one is the ultimate, the Radiomaster TX15 or TX15 Max.

Aspecto y sensación: tamaño, colores y diseño.

Honestly, when I first picked it up, I was pleasantly surprised by the feel! The Radiomaster TX15 and Radiomaster TX15 Max are the same size, both 178 x 168 x 81mm, so they feel nice and substantial in your hand. The Radiomaster TX15 weighs about 605g (without battery), while the Radiomaster TX15 Max is just a tiny bit heavier at 672g (without battery).

Personally, I think that the small weight difference between the Radiomaster TX15 or Radiomaster TX15 Max is mainly because the Max uses fancier gimbals. But overall, they’re both super comfortable to hold, even when I’m flying for hours, my hands don’t get tired. The materials feel pretty premium too, definitely sturdy, like they’ll last a long time.

The layout of the buttons and switches? I think they designed it really well, super intuitive. Every switch, button, and knob is right where I’d expect it to be; they feel good to press, and you can customize all of them. And I can set them up exactly how I like to fly.

Both controllers come with a vibrant Pantalla táctil IPS de 3,5 pulgadas con un 480 x 320 resolution. The screen looks fantastic, bright and clear, so even when I’m flying in bright sunlight, all the telemetry data, menu options, and model settings are easy to see. I feel like the screen experience on the Radiomaster TX15 and Radiomaster TX15 Max is pretty much identical; both are very intuitive.

The main difference in looks is the colors; the Radiomaster TX15 comes in macaron color options, while the Radiomaster TX15 Max comes in those cooler red, black, and gold finishes, which I personally prefer for that premium vibe!

At the heart of both the Radiomaster TX15 and Radiomaster TX15 Max is that blazing-fast Chip STM32 H7. This thing is super quick, and I can feel how responsive the radio is because of it. They both support up to 16 channels, which, for me, is more than enough to control even the most complex models.

They both run on EdgeTX firmware, which I find fantastic to use. It’s got tons of model memory, complex mix settings, curve adjustments, and even custom voice prompts. This open-source firmware ecosystem makes both the Radiomaster TX15 and Radiomaster TX15 Max super flexible and feature-rich, a total paradise for anyone who loves to tinker!

Both controllers feature built-in ExpressLRS (ELRS) modules, supporting either the 2.4GHz or Sub-G 900MHz bands. I’ve flown them pretty far, and the signal has always been super stable and reliable. They also support telemetry data feedback, so I can see crucial info like battery voltage and signal strength right on the screen. This real-time data is crucial for safe flying, and both the Radiomaster TX15 and Radiomaster TX15 Max give me a great deal of confidence in that regard.

The modular design, with that Bahía de módulos compatible con JR, means that with either the Radiomaster TX15 or Radiomaster TX15 Max, both support external RF modules to various protocols beyond the built-in ELRS. And firmware updates are also super easy via USB-C. That means they’re constantly getting updated.

I really appreciated its powerful and efficient sistema de enfriamiento, with low-noise fans and an aluminum heat sink. Even when I use them for a long time, the radio doesn’t get hot, which is awesome! They also have a foldable antenna, a built-in microphone (apparently for future features), and a giroscopio incorporado. I’ve tried tilting the radio to control a gimbal, and it’s pretty cool!

Both models come with 4 GB de memoria flash integrada and support external MicroSD cards. The Radiomaster TX15 Max stands out a bit more with its customizable RGB Gimbal Light-Rings, allowing for LUA-controlled lighting effects around the gimbals. That’s a neat little touch that the standard Radiomaster TX15 doesn’t have, a minor regret for me.

Tecnología básica

The biggest difference in user experience between the Radiomaster TX15 and the Radiomaster TX15 Max is definitely their gimbals! The Radiomaster TX15 comes with V5.0 Hall sensor gimbals, which I already think are very precise, smooth, and have good centering.

They’re totally fine for everyday flying. But then there’s the Radiomaster TX15 Max, which takes it up a notch with premium AG02 CNC Hall sensor gimbals. These AG02 gimbals are not only more than 20% lighter, but they also have adjustable travel on both the vertical and horizontal axes. This makes the feel much more refined and customizable. For me, someone who demands absolute precision and feel from my sticks, the Radiomaster TX15 Max’s AG02 gimbals are a clear step up from the standard V5.0 gimbals in the Radiomaster TX15. That “point and shoot” feeling is just amazing, it’s like flying art!

The buttons and switches on both radios give crisp, reliable feedback. Every press has a clear “click,” which makes me feel confident in my inputs. The overall software experience, powered by EdgeTX y ExpressLRS firmware, is very stable and user-friendly, no weird glitches or anything.

¿Radiomaster TX15 o TX15 Max?

The Radiomaster TX15 Max distinguishes itself from the Radiomaster TX15 primarily through its superior gimbals and customizable RGB light.

Customizable Light: The TX15 Max includes customizable RGB Gimbal Light-Rings for personalized lighting effects, a feature absent on the standard TX15. Additionally, it comes in premium red, black, and gold finishes, offering a more high-end visual appeal compared to the TX15’s macaron color options.

Premium Gimbals: The TX15 Max features AG02 CNC Hall sensor gimbals. These are a significant upgrade over the TX15’s V5.0 Hall sensor gimbals. AG02 gimbals are not only more than 20% lighter but also offer adjustable travel on both vertical and horizontal axes, providing a more refined, precise, and customizable control feel.
